Renewed
A few years ago, I made some little felt key-rings in the shape of cats and dogs as a fundraiser for the charity Lord Malarkey works for. Yesterday, one of his colleagues showed him the key-ring she bought back then and it was looking fairly tatty to say the least. On its last little doggy legs, in fact. Lord M sent me a photo and, to be honest, I was amazed it had survived for so many years.
Anyway, I offered to make his colleague a new key ring, so Lord M duly brought the tatty old specimen home with him so I could use it as a pattern and this afternoon I made the replacement. And here it is:
A little pink ‘n’ purple job. The pink is similar to one of the corporate colours of the charity. The purple is not. I reused what was left of the original stuffing, plus the ring to which keys are attached, but the rest was unsalvageable.
The thing is, whilst I was rootling around in my arty crafty room for the relevant materials, I found a couple of unfinished sewing projects that I had completely forgotten about. This one, for example:
Spring…
Summer…
Autumn…
Winter…
My vision, when I began this project, was to attach all the leaves as a border for each tree, then bring all four pieces together as a single 3-D picture. I think I need to add more snow to Winter. Maybe a little robin in the tree to add a splash of colour.
And then there are these…
…some little bead blackberries. I think I was going to embroider some 3-D bramble leaves and mount it all in a small box frame.
I really enjoyed making the key-ring. I’ve barely done any sewing in the last four years and I think it might be time to start again.

How cute! Yes, you should definitely get back to sewing etc. it’s good for the soul. Sitting here considering what I should knit. Looked so much at a shawl pattern that I decided it bored me dreadfully so probably wouldn’t do actually knitting it. 🙄. Onward to look for another pattern or maybe just get over it and knit a hat. At least that is of limited time and effort.

A knitting project is essential for this time of year, KJ. I bought a load of wool a couple of days ago and have embarked on making a throw for the new brown sofa. It will be covered in a glorious combination of deep pink, purple and mid-blue. Much better than brown!
