Stove’s In!
The new wood burning stove was installed this morning, with great efficiency and minimal fuss and ado. Here it is. I am very pleased with it…
Nell is also pleased with it…
The installation chap took me through an instructional lesson and he burned the first log. You have to do two small burns, allowing the stove to cool off in between times, in order for the coating to ‘season.’ He didn’t say ‘season’ but that was what I understood from his explanation. Anyway, I paid attention to the ‘How to use your stove’ demonstration and I think I remember all I was told so I can relay it to Lord Malarkey tomorrow. It was immediately clear how more efficient this stove is compared with the old one. I am glad we decided to upgrade. I shall look forward to cranking it up to full capacity tomorrow, especially as we are due another very cold snap in the weather.
There’s a busy-ish week ahead. Tomorrow I’m making a birthday cake, Sunday we are going out for a pub lunch to celebrate a birthday. I’ve got the dentist for a checkup on Wednesday (yes, I AM in the midst of lots of messages from the dental practice reminding me of my appointment…sighs…rolls eyes…), and I’ve got to post Mum’s birthday gift and sort out my car insurance. And organise a birthday gift for a friend who has a birthday at the beginning of the following week. There’s the usual round of study sessions, piano keyboard sessions, novel reading and writing to do. And a bit of sewing. I am toying with the idea of buying a new sewing machine but am not sure just yet.
And before I know it, it will be March which is officially Spring! Hurrah!

What a beauty! Well chosen! We really need a new stove. I think ours is pre-war. Pick any war you can think of and it is still too old and inefficient.

I am rather chuffed with it, KJ. I can’t believe how efficient it is compared with the old one. What I like best is the larger window. It feels like a ‘proper’ fire.
